1 Book 1 Twitter

Posted on May 5, 2010

Today marks the first day of  the 1 Book 1 Twitter event.  As of the last time I looked, there were over 5,000 followers and more joining in all the time.

The idea of the  event is to get as many people all over America to read the same book and discuss it via Twitter.  It is the first time that a social media site has been used for something like this.  Hopefully it will be a  catalyst for many more like it. An online book club; how much fun does that sound?!

The book everyone will be reading is American Gods by Neil Gaiman.  I just finished it in January while traveling in London (an odd place to read about America I know).

I have been pestering everyone I know to join the twitter feed and, at the very least, read what people are talking about.  It is fascinating how Twitter is bringing all of these people together and giving them a common interest to discuss.  You can read my tweets to see what I think of the book too!

For more information, you can go to the official twitter page or you can read other magazine and news reviews of the event.

Please join; it is the start of something great!

P.S. Write me a comment if you’re going to be participating and we can start following each other on Twitter!
